S.P.A.M. Robotics’ Stellar 2025 Season: Galileo Champs and Einstein Contenders!

Wow, what a week! S.P.A.M. Robotics (FRC Team 180) drove from Stuart to Houston, TX, and back and in between, we clinched the Galileo Division at the 2025 FIRST Championship, held April 16–19 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Our 2025 season was incredible, and we’re thrilled to share our journey, stats, and highlights as we continue to inspire STEM leaders in Martin County and beyond.

A Season of Dominance: 44-6-0 Record and #1 in Florida

S.P.A.M. had an impressive 2025 season, finishing with a 44-6-0 record in official play, as reported by The Blue Alliance. According to Statbotics.io, this performance ranked us 26th out of 3,690 (Top 0.7%) teams worldwide, 20th out of 2,927 (Top 0.68%) in the USA, and #1 out of 84 in Florida. Our Expected Points Added (EPA) breakdown reflects our consistency across the season: Auto (20.1), Teleop (59.3), Endgame (10.2), for a total of 89.6 points. In the Regional Championship Pool, we ranked #3, earning 186 points, setting the stage for our championship run.

Regional Success: Orlando and South Florida Victories

Our season kicked off at the Orlando Regional (March 19–22), where we ranked 1st out of 50 teams with a 14-1-0 record. Alongside alliance partners Team 179 (Children of the Swamp) and Team 2152(S*M*A*S*H), we dominated the REEFSCAPE game, earning our first regional win and the FIRST Impact Award. Our EPA stats were strong: Auto (14.3), Teleop (44.8), Endgame (6.6), totaling 65.7 points.

We carried that momentum into the South Florida Regional (April 3–5), again ranking 1st out of 44 teams with a 16-1-0 record. Teaming up with  Team 179 (Children of the Swamp) and Team 5410 (Eaglebotics), we secured another victory and the Autonomous Award. Our EPA improved significantly: Auto (18.0), Teleop (57.8), Endgame (8.1), totaling 83.9 points.

FIRST Championship: Galileo Champs 2025: Division Triumph and Autonomous Excellence

At the FIRST Championship in Houston, S.P.A.M. competed in the Galileo Division (April 16–19), ranking 8th out of 75 teams with a 13-2-0 record. We were selected as the 1st Pick of Alliance 1 by Captain Team 4946 (The Alpha Dogs), alongside Team 16 (Bomb Squad) and Team 498 (The Cobra Commanders). We dominated the Galileo Division, earning the title Galileo Champs 2025, and the prestigious Autonomous Award for our exceptional autonomous performance. Our consistent Auto EPA of 20.1, our highest of the season, showcased the reliability of our Limelight camera, a focus area we worked hard on after early-season challenges. Overall, our EPA peaked in Galileo: Auto (20.1), Teleop (59.6), Endgame (10.1), totaling 89.8 points.

Einstein Field: A Hard-Fought Battle

As Galileo Division Winners, S.P.A.M. advanced to the Einstein Field on April 19, joining our alliance partners Alpha Dogs, Bomb Squad, and Cobra Commanders. We competed as the 1st Pick of Galileo, facing off against the world’s best teams. With a 1-2-0 record, we were eliminated in the Double Elimination Bracket (Round 3), tying for 5th place overall—a proud achievement among 600 top teams. Our EPA remained steady: Auto (20.1), Teleop (59.3), Endgame (10.2), totaling 89.6 points. Notably, a third of our season’s losses (2 out of 6) occurred on Einstein, a testament to the fierce competition at the championship’s pinnacle.

Looking Ahead: IRI and Beyond

Reflecting on our season, we’re incredibly proud of our team, mentors, and sponsors who made this journey possible. From regional dominance to a Galileo Division win and the Autonomous Award, S.P.A.M.’s villain-themed robot, Anemony, and our “complete blackout” tradition carried us far. We’re now gearing up for the Indiana Robotics Invitational (IRI) in July 2025, where we’ll continue to showcase Martin County’s STEM spirit. Follow our journey on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, or check out our season stats on our Competition Season At-a-Glance page via The Blue Alliance. Thank you to our community for fueling our 2025 season. Let’s keep building the future together!
