STEM Center Field Trips
Inspiring the Next Generation of STEM Leaders
S.P.A.M. Robotics, FRC Team 180, is proud to partner with the Martin County School District (MCSD) to offer an immersive, hands-on STEM Robotics Field Trip experience, modeled after Martin County School District's successful Environmental Studies Center Program.
Our goal is to provide engaging, hands-on activities that introduce students to the fundamentals of robotics, engineering, and real-world STEM careers through unique learning modules.

Discover Hands-On STEM Adventures
S.P.A.M. Robotics STEM Center for an immersive field trip experience that sparks curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and math. As part of our 2025-2026 Phase 1 pilot program in partnership with the Martin County School District, we're offering structured field trips designed to introduce 4th and 7th graders to robotics, engineering, and real-world STEM careers. These engaging sessions, held at the MCSD Boardroom and our state-of-the-art 6,500-square-foot facility, provide hands-on activities aligned with educational standards. While the pilot focuses on selected MCSD schools, we welcome inquiries from other groups interested in similar experiences.
Field trips accommodate groups of about 50 students, including teachers and chaperones, and last a full school day with built-in time for lunch. Students will rotate between two main activity blocks, fostering teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation in a fun, mentor-guided environment.

What to Expect on Your Field Trip
-
Arrival: Students arrive by bus and are greeted at the south side entrance. We'll divide them into two groups (approximately 24-26 students each) for balanced rotations.
-
Activity Rotations: One group starts with robotics in the MCSD Boardroom (2 hours), while the other explores the S.P.A.M. Center (1.5 hours). After lunch, groups switch.
-
Lunch: Enjoy a break in our new outdoor picnic area. Students wash hands before eating—bring your own lunches or coordinate with us for options.
-
Dismissal: Groups reunite in the lobby hallway for bus pickup.
-
Supervision: Activities are overseen by S.P.A.M. mentors, adults, and district staff to ensure safety and engagement.
-
Group Size and Duration: Ideal for classes of 50, with activities running from arrival to dismissal (typically a full morning/afternoon session).
Our field trips embody FIRST's core values of Gracious Professionalism, emphasizing collaboration and respect while building essential skills for future STEM leaders.
