Since 1998, FRC 180 S.P.A.M. has built robots that push boundaries and define excellence in FIRST Robotics. From our garage-born beginnings to the 2012 World Championship win, each bot tells a story of Speed, Power, and Maneuverability. Enemone
An ocean-themed challenge where robots navigate underwater-inspired terrain, collect and deposit marine-themed game pieces, and complete endgame tasks to restore a vibrant reef ecosystem

Named after Atlas from Greek mythology.

Catapult was so dangerous, it was decided if not every student passed the safety test, we would not use it!

Had an elastic powered catapult that launched an exercise ball into a goal.

Named after a monster from the TV show “ahhhh! Scary monsters”.

Had a reputation for having an attitude, slamming its hand down in a fit of rage, or trying to pull the roof of the pit down when doing pull ups.

Placed pool innertubes on pegs to score points, was an arm on wheels, also deployed a “minibot” to score points at the end of the match by climbing the pole.


2010
Mia S.P.A.M.

Named after Mia Hamm, the soccer player.

Most of the team will say this year did not happen! We had issues with the drive system we had, and the wheels would have turning issues.

Played a soccer game, used a vacuum motor and a mold to hold the ball in place and shot with a poker to kick the ball.
2009
Puffy
-
Named puffy after the fan that it used as a boost.
-
The fan was actually a propeller made by Pratt and Whitney!
-
Made it to finals at championship in Atlanta, Georgia!
-
A game with a non-fricton floor, pulled a goal and scored balls in the goals pulled.


2008
Running with Scissors

*Named after its scissor lift catapult.

Scissor lift catapult was extremely dangerous.

Participated in Worlds in Atlanta, Georgia!

The game was a race around a track, carrying a ball and shooting it over a goal on both sides.
2007
Itchy Bot Crane

Named after the fiberglass particles that caused anyone that worked on it to be itchy.

Also became an aircraft carrier when deployed, the wings came down for other robots to climb onto!

Placed pool Inner tubes on a rack to score points.


2006
Ahab

Named after captain Ahab in Moby Dick.

Named El Chupacabra, because the team liked the name.

Name stands for surface to air meat.

Partipated in the Worlds Competition in Houston, Texas the Astrodome !

Used a scissor lift to score an a grapple to climb.

Placed a ball on top of the goal for extra points, and also climbed for extra points.

Twitch

Named twitch because of its bad twitching.

Fluffy

Named after Monty Python and the holy grail’s rabbit because it attacked a mentor.
